Clara De Abreu E Souza

Clara De Abreu E Souza is an Associate at Hintze Law PLLC. She has experience with artificial intelligence, data privacy, and the regulation of emerging technologies, including evolving state and federal privacy laws, algorithmic accountability, and health data governance.

Before joining Hintze Law as an Associate, Clara served as a summer associate with the firm, where she analyzed state and federal privacy laws, tracked legislative developments, and co-authored insights on regulatory trends. Prior to her time at Hintze, Clara worked at Terrell Marshall Law Group, where she gained experience in complex class action litigation, including legal research, discovery, and case strategy support.

Clara earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, where she served as President of the Privacy Law Student Association, Academic Standards Representative for the Student Bar Association, and was selected as the student commencement speaker. As a member of the Health Policy and Advocacy Clinic, she contributed to an American Medical Association resolution on the use of AI in clinical decision-making. She also participated in the Ethical Legal Tech Innovation Practicum, collaborating with law and computer science students to create an AI tool to support survivors of domestic violence. Clara further pursued advanced coursework in cybersecurity, privacy, and AI regulation. As a result of her work at the intersection of AI and health law, she was invited by the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) to present on the current state regulatory landscape surrounding AI and healthcare at the WSMA’s 2025 annual conference.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology, with highest honors, from the University of Texas at Austin. Before law school, she was selected for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program in Tokyo, where she taught English to high school students.
