Leslie Veloz
Leslie Veloz is an Associate at Hintze Law PLLC. Since joining Hintze in 2021, Leslie has excelled in identifying, evaluating, and deftly managing many clients' complex U.S. and international privacy issues. She counsels a diverse clientele, spanning innovative startups to Fortune 100 corporations, addressing a broad spectrum of global privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection concerns.
Substantive areas of expertise include health privacy, privacy and security by design, vendor risk management, privacy assessments, internal privacy policies, joint controller and data processing agreements, external privacy notices, children privacy, AI/ML technologies, U.S. state comprehensive and federal privacy laws, the G.D.P.R., global incident response, and data breach notification.
Leslie offers clients pragmatic and result-driven legal counsel for establishing, integrating, and maintaining effective privacy programs. She excels in keeping clients well-informed about the ever-evolving privacy regulatory environment through tailored training materials, CLE workshops, presentations, and simplified, accessible explanations of intricate and emerging laws. Her ability to break down complex legal jargon into understandable compliance obligations ensures clients can navigate new privacy and security regulations effectively.
Leslie also leverages her extensive experience in counseling multi-billion-dollar enterprises in incident response and data breach notification, including those that have garnered media attention, to advise clients on the best industry practices and compliance strategies, particularly in privacy assessments. She has also been able to help clients assess and mitigate the legal, regulatory, policy, and reputational risks associated with the development, deployment, and implementation of A.I. & ML technologies.
Outside of her professional role at Hintze, Leslie demonstrates a deep commitment to the local community through her leadership roles in various nonprofits and recognitions for exemplary service. Her involvements also extend to various professional organizations, highlighting her dedication to advancing diversity and privacy expertise in the legal field. Before joining Hintze Law, Leslie was the first-ever Privacy Intern for T-Mobile, gaining valuable experience implementing state, federal, and global privacy and compliance laws. During law school, she worked in the New Jersey Attorney General's Office within the Cyber Crimes Bureau and held positions as a law clerk for the Honorable John Michael Vazquez, U.S.D.J.
