Hintze Law is pleased to announce that Jevan Hutson has joined the firm as its newest lateral associate in our Seattle office.
Jevan‘s practice focuses on the intersection of privacy, security, and data ethics, with particular experience in emerging ethical and policy issues in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision. He advises clients in identifying, evaluating, and managing complex global privacy and cybersecurity risks and compliance issues. He also helps clients develop and implement privacy programs and guides them on state, federal and global privacy and cybersecurity compliance and state data breach notification laws.
Prior to joining Hintze Law, Jevan was an associate at at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe in the firm’s Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice group. During law school, Jevan held positions as a law clerk for the Federal Trade Commission’s Northwest Regional Office, a policy advocacy intern for the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington’s Technology & Liberty Project, and a legal intern for Nintendo of America.
As a law student, Jevan also led facial recognition and AI policy development at the University of Washington School of Law’s Technology Law and Public Policy Clinic. As part of that work, he engaged extensively with state and national policy debates around privacy, AI, and facial recognition and he represented the University of Washington on the Port of Seattle’s External Advisory Group for biometrics. Jevan also served as president of the University of Washington Student Bar Association and received several honors and awards, including the Gregoire Fellowship, Jack MacDonald Merit Award, and Pro Bono Honors.
Jevan has published several papers on policy at the intersection of law, technology, design, and ethics at premier international conferences on human-computer interaction, social computing, and usable security and privacy. Jevan’s research endeavors and technology policy advocacy have been featured in multiple major news outlets, including The Washington Post, CNN, The Rolling Stone, WIRED, MIT Technology Review, VentureBeat, BuzzFeed News, Reuters, Mother Jones, The Huffington Post, and The New York Post.
Jevan is an active member of QLaw: the LGBTQ+ Bar Association of Washington as well as Queer in AI.
Jevan is joined at the office with his adorable Husky mix dog, Echo.
